Update: The world is still going to hell

Well, scratch everything I said before. Apparently we are now confirming that the North Koreans did test a nuclear weapon.

There's not much else to say at this point. But it's going to be interesting, to say the least, to see what happens in the morning. I'm not feeling very optimistic about the U.N.'s ability to handle this.

My advice: buckle up. And maybe get a helmet.

Well, I'm set as far as fallout shelters go. My office building doubles as one.

I wish I were back in Athens. My dorm had been a fallout shelter. Not that it's terribly likely we'd be affected on the East Coast, but still.
It's a comfort thing even if fallout shelters are pretty ineffective. A false sense of security is better than no sense of security. er... Or something like that. ::chuckle::
